The world is a playground of creativity, and for those lucky enough to travel its surface, inspiration comes often and in many forms.

Meet Darren Jones, world traveler, artist, designer and online-store proprietor. Darren is the perfect representation of how PrestaShop can help make dreams a reality.

White Island Clothing is Darren’s dream, and PrestaShop is the tool that powers its realization.

For those who don’t know, White Island is a brand that represents an heir of unique individualism for those who dare to be different.

Darren grew up spending holidays in Ibiza. He also spent a significant amount of time traveling the world. As an artist, he found inspiration in the people and places he encountered. He continually sketched his ideas, and those sketches would soon serve as the foundation for White Island.

“During my travels, I use to frequent clubs. I soon noticed that it was hard to find clothes that would allow me to fit in and stand out at the same time. That’s when I decided to start using my art to make original, and unique graphic designs that I originally started to place onto t-shirts and vests,” said Jones.

After creating a few unique pieces for his own personal collection, Darren started to notice something incredible. “People started coming up to me, taking photos and asking where I got my unique clothes from. This is when the idea for White Island Clothing entered my head. I soon started to research the market and realized what it would take to turn my designs into a popular global brand.”

White Island’s primary inspiration comes from Ibiza, a small Island in the Mediterranean Sea that rests 79km off the coast of the city of Valencia, Spain.

The White Island line is fresh, unique and perfect for the youthful crowd that likes to party, hangout and enjoy life to the fullest.

In 2011, Darren decided to take White Island Clothing global by opening and online store with PrestaShop. “After extensive research into open-source solutions, PrestaShop was the perfect fit for White Island Clothing. Its simplistic design and ease of use allowed me to open a successful online business doing what I love.”

When asked what makes PrestaShop the best solution for businesses like his, Darren said, “PrestaShop changes with technology and allows for complete customization. Also, being able to link my store directly with its social media accounts has been huge. We currently have around 150,000 Twitter followers (@island_ibiza), and without this function, White Island would not be as successful as it is today.”

When asked what advice he would give to those who have an idea for an online store but don’t know how to make it happen, he said “research is key. Also, you need to know the product you are selling and truly believe in it. It’s never easy setting up a business, and that’s why PrestaShop is so awesome. It makes something hard seem relatively easy.”
